Monday, July 27th, 2020 – Lincoln City, OR to Portland, OR

How nice it is to sleep late, even if only for an hour or so!
Without any pressing need to be on the road early, we were blessed with the luxury of rolling out of bed when ready, and heading toward Portland at our leisure.
It was decided that a stop at the Evergreen Air & Space Museum in McMinville, OR was in order – https://www.evergreenmuseum.org – a truly world-class establishment that is home to Howard Hughes’s Spruce Goose and an SR71 Blackbird Spy Plane, amongst many other treasures. This amazing collection is essentially in the middle of nowhere, which makes the experience even more spectacular. If ever in the area, BE SURE to visit!
With flights back to Massachusetts already booked, and arrangements made for our bikes to be shipped home, our next stop was BMW Motorcycles of Western Oregon, in Tigard – https://www.bmcwor.com – where they had kindly agreed to hold our rides for pickup.

Both Dan & Rob are established customers, having had their BMW bikes serviced here in Tigard multiple times in the past. These folks are the Best of the Best – we can’t recommend them highly enough! Thanks, Guys, we appreciate all that you do!
And, so, what’s a trip back home without a proper sendoff??

A most happy coincidence is the fact that Dan’s daughter (and Ryan’s sister) Abby and her family live in Portland. They all made us feel incredibly welcome at a fabulous dinner Monday night. Husband Fab worked diligently throughout the day to prepare a superb smoked brisket with all the fixin’s, which was exceptional. The evening was great, and a wonderful time was had by all – thank you, thank you, Tillier Family!
While Dan extended his visit by a day, Ryan and Rob were off to Cape Cod early the next morning, happy to be headed home and reunited with loved ones, and grateful for an abundance of memories that will last a lifetime.
It was one heck of an adventure.

We saw the Spruce Goose when it was in Long Beach, CA Isn’t it incredible?

One doesn’t appreciate the enormity of the beast until one stands beneath it, and looks up!
